Amazon scam call
It was a spoofed local cell number with an automated message that “someone is trying to order Apple Airpods and blah blah blah for a total of $1100. If you would like to cancel this order and secure your account, press 1 to speak to a customer service representative.
Amazon lists three signs the communication might not be genuine:
– The caller sounds urgent or threatening;
– You are asked for personal details, passwords or bank details;
– The caller asks for remote access to your computer.
Also Amazon will not call you about any purchases, and they absolutely won’t do it from a local cell phone number.
